Ordinances

Harrisville Borough has many ordinances in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all members of the community. A complete set of these ordinances is available at the Borough Office for your review. Included here are a few ordinances that members of the community frequently ask about.

Junk Cars:
All vehicles must have a valid, current inspection sticker and registration. If vehicles do not have current inspection and registration, the vehicle must be under cover, i.e., in a garage.

Burning:
Harrisville Borough permits burning on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Lawn Care:
The maximum height of grass in your lawn is 6 inches.

Dogs:
Dogs barking more than 15 minutes continuously will be picked up by the Butler County Dog Officer. When dogs are not on the owner’s property, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. It is the responsibility of the dog’s owner to clean up after their dog.

Sidewalks:
Property owners are responsible for clearing sidewalks and mailboxes within 24 hours after a snowfall.

ATV:
All of the streets within the Borough (with the exception of Routes 8 and 58) are available for ATV use. All ATVs must be registered with the Borough office on a yearly basis, beginning in January of each year. The yearly registration fee is $10.

Garbage/Recycling:
Harrisville Borough garbage ordinance states that all Borough residents must have garbage pickup service with Tri-County, unless you are a Senior citizen on the sticker program. If you are a Senior citizen interested in the sticker program, please call Tri-County to get set up and you can purchase the stickers from the Borough office during normal business hours. Property owners are responsible for collection service. Garbage collection is provided every Monday and recycling collections is provided every other Monday.

 

OTHER INFORMATION

Garbage Stickers:
Senior citizens may purchase garbage stickers provided by Tri-County Industries, Inc. at the Borough office. The cost is $3.50 per sticker and may be used on a 32 gallon bag of garbage for pick-up by Tri-County Industries, Inc.

Rental Properties:
Property owners are ultimately responsible for the payment of sanitary sewer service regardless of the arrangements made with tenants.

Unoccupied Users:
If your property is vacant, you may apply for the unoccupied user rate. You may obtain the form from the Borough office. The unoccupied user rate is $20.00 per month. There is also a $10.00 administration fee as required by the Borough that is due at the time of completion of your application.

Solicitation Permits:
Solicitation permits are required within the Borough. Applications are available at the Borough office. There is a fee associated with the permit based on the number of days an entity intends to be soliciting within the Borough.
